TV Show of the Month

From The Parents Are Coming, the Parents Are Coming, originally aired on 10/8/1992. Martin is meeting Gina's parents for the first time, and the self-proclaimed street kid doesn't know how to act around his girlfriend's upper-class family. Tommy and Cole rag Martin for being "whipped", and suggest that he go back to his old ways in order to impress Gina's folks. They're only kidding, but Martin actually takes them seriously!

Project tasks

The Martin portal is currently under construction. Your help is highly appreciated! Here are some tasks you can do:

Did you know...?

  • Despite nominations for all five members of the core Martin cast, Martin did not receive "Outstanding Comedy Series" at the NAACP Image Awards in 1996. That honor - which Martin won in 1994 and 1995 - went to Living Single.
  • Tisha Campbell and Tichina Arnold have known each other since they were 11 and 12, respectively. The two performed together in Little Shop of Horrors in 1982.
  • Contrary to popular belief, Tommy's last name is not "Strong". The back of his jersey during a basketball game clearly shows it is actually "Strawnn".
  • There is a Do the Right Thing poster hanging in Martin's apartment. Martin played "Cee" in the film.
  • In "Forever Sheneneh", Sheneneh asks Kid if he will kiss her "just like you did that light-skinnded girl in House Party". Sheneneh is referring to Sydney, who was played by Tisha Campbell.
